I went away for two days and came back to this in the garden.
It's an oddity.
It's dimensionally significant.
It's a mystery.
This is "2001+50=2018"

The Great Wai Art Sale at Carterton's Event
Centre 6-9 September 2018
I have two panels this year and it's tempting to fill them both but
the space (haha) is very important too.
Left Panel; The Visitors Were Puzzled by our Lighthouse
Red Mars / Blue Mars / Green Mars
Right Panel; Things That go Bump in the Night
Alley Oop!

"The Visitors Were Puzzled by our Lighthouse"
One of the jigsaw creations. This is one of those alternative views of Castlepoint
Lighthouse. It's not the usual "prescribed setting" that everyone takes photos of
but it's what I wanted.
The nebulous region top left is vaguely modeled on Eta Carina.
This one started as an idea of a Hotel on Mars. But then I realised that our Regent3 in Masterton looked somewhat
similar to what I was planning. So now it's an adaptation of the Regent3 * . Fluffing around with all these straight lines
is taking some time, but then the next job is to get the "extra-terrestrials" placed in the landscape. Definitely more
satisfying!
Update May 18th - Title will be "Things That Go Bump in the Night".
Other titles in the running were;
1) It was a Quiet Night at the Regent. 2) Out-of-Towners Special tonight! 3) The Regent Had a Universal Appeal.
4) Honey, did you Lock the Front Door? 5) They Came From Outer Space.
I'll put up another photo when I finish the painting :-)
* Not to be confused with the Regent58 alehouse, which serves beer to the aliens.
June update - finished painting below! Worked out a treat and I managed not to get glue everywhere this time, not even on the neighbour's cat.

Untitled, and unfinished, so far.
Just splashing about creating a nebulous region of space! Yes there's a sphere of course. This is straight acrylic and tissue paper on a
bought canvas.
The nights are getting cooler and clearer now so it's out with the telescope a bit more. Pity I can't see anything as fabulous as this!
A 6-inch dob doesn't quite produce the spectacular images you see in the media, but at least I can see the trapezium in M42 easily.
Jupiter is appearing in the night sky now, so that's a jewel to behold. Watch out for Venus in the evening sky too.
